Research and Development of Environmentally Friendly Materials and Embracing New Trends in Green Regulations in Europe and the United States
Against the backdrop of increasingly stringent global environmental regulations, Green House has always regarded sustainable development as a core strategy. We announce that we will continue to deepen the research, development and application of environmentally friendly materials based on the requirements of the latest environmental regulations in Europe and the United States, to promote the upgrading of embroidery products in the direction of greening and compliance, and to help our customers seamlessly connect to the international market.
I. Keeping up with the dynamics of regulations and anchoring the direction of research and development
The European and American markets continue to upgrade their environmental requirements for textiles, covering multiple dimensions such as chemical substance restrictions, circular economy and carbon emissions. For example:
1. EU REACH regulation: Strict restrictions on hazardous substances in textiles, such as azo dyes, formaldehyde, heavy metals (lead, cadmium) and perfluorinated compounds (PFAS). 2025 onwards, California's AB-1817 bill will ban the sale of textiles containing PFAS.
2. European Union Eco-label: The new regulation expands the scope of control and requires the entire textile production process to comply with environmental guidelines, including the use of recyclable materials and restriction of hazardous chemical additives.
3. U.S. Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA): It is mandatory for children's apparel to pass a third-party test to ensure that lead, phthalates, and other substances meet the standards.
Based on this, our R&D will focus on the following areas:
- Banned substance substitution: developing fluorine-free water repellents to replace PFAS, and adopting natural dyes (e.g. plant extracts) to replace azo dyes.
- Recycled Material Application: Increase the use of recycled polyester, organic cotton and bamboo fiber to reduce dependence on virgin resources.
- Low-carbon process optimization: introduce water-saving dyeing technology and digital embroidery equipment to reduce energy consumption and waste generation.
II. Innovative and environmentally friendly materials to enhance the added value of products
1. Natural and recycled fibers
- Adopting natural materials such as “organic cotton” and “flax” to ensure pesticide residue-free cultivation and compliance with EU OEKO-TEX® standards.
- Promote “recycled polyester” (rPET), which is made into threads from recycled plastic bottles, to reduce carbon footprint and meet the sustainable sourcing needs of brands.
2. Non-toxic additives and dyes
- Use “bio-based color fixing agents” instead of traditional formaldehyde additives to ensure textile skin contact safety.
- Developing “mineral pigment dyeing process” to avoid the environmental pollution risk of chemical synthetic dyes.
3. Biodegradable packaging and accessories
- Phase out plastic packaging in favor of “corn starch-based biodegradable materials”and design reusable embroidery bobbins.
III. Technology upgrading and certification assurance
1. Digitalized production and green supply chain
- Optimize the utilization of raw materials and reduce the waste of trimmings through AI typing technology.
- Build a green supply chain with suppliers to ensure that the raw material traceability system covers the entire chain from planting to finished products.
2. Authoritative Certification and Compliance Support
- Actively apply for EU Eco-label and GRS (Global Recycling Standard) certifications to enhance the international competitiveness of our products.
- Cooperating with third-party testing organizations, we regularly update compliance test reports for REACH, CPSIA and other regulations to ensure zero risk for export.
IV. Future Vision: Global Mission of Green Embroidery
We plan to launch "Zero Carbon Embroidery Series ” in 2025, using 100% recycled materials and solar-powered production, with a target of reducing carbon emissions by 30%. At the same time, we will work with designers to develop detachable embroidery modules to extend the product life cycle and practice the concept of circular economy.
