Embroidery patches can add interesting elements to clothing, hats, backpacks and other items, and can serve to repair worn areas. According to the production process and effect, embroidery patches can be categorized into three types: flat embroidery, chenille embroidery and 3D embroidery.
Flat embroidered patch is the most common type of embroidered patches and the choice of most people. Compared to the other two, it can produce relatively complex patterns, with no major limitations on color or size; 1-18 inches can be produced, and no more than 12 colors will suffice. Flat embroidery has clear lines and a flat surface, making it suitable for creating embroidered patches with complex patterns and bright colors.
Chenille embroidered patch, which is made in a slightly slightly different process but also requires the use of an embroidery machine, is most commonly used for chenille letters. You can often see it on top of baseball uniforms and varsity jackets. Because of the limitations of the production process, chenille embroidery can't show too much color and detail, and is suitable for simple designs.
3D embroidered patch is more three-dimensional than flat embroidery, but again, it is only suitable for simple logos, letters, etc. 3D embroidery is usually embroidered with thicker threads, and requires multiple embroideries on the patterned areas to achieve a three-dimensional effect.
